Abstract

This slide series indicates the importance of water in north Pakistan. This region's constant need is for water. During the brief rainy season the problem is not so acute, but it does not provide enough water for the area. So in the valley the People's Work Programme has decided to do something about the water problem. Holes were horizontally drilled into the base of the mountain slope where water was discovered. Then plastic pipes were laid from the horizontal well to distribute water to nearby villages and in some cases water tanks were built. In this way the villagers did not have to worry about water in the dry season.
