Abstract

The purpose of the workshop was to expose key government managers and decision makers to a broad range of interventions which could be used to combat the problem of wastewater management. These included innovative low-cost wastewater treatment technologies, institutional strengthening, public policy instruments, legal instruments (regulation), and economic tools (incentives and fees). Participants were high-level public representatives from the environmental, legal, financial, health and sanitation sectors of Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, and El Salvador.
