Abstract

This publication is about wetlands, from the prairie potholes in North Dakota to the mangroves in Irian Jaya. But more than that, it is about the relations between wetlands and people. There were 90 presentations at the conference, on which this publication is based. Of particular interest is the section which discusses bridging the gap between local people and (inter)national policy considerations.
