Abstract

Sanitation with the People was filmed in October/November 1994 while the project was carrying out a participatory survey of past and present sanitation practices in the Ohangwena Region, Namibia. The video has been designed to initiate a discussion on sanitation at a community level, or that it can be used as part of the training of extension workers in rural areas. The video shows rural men and women, young and old people, talking about their ideas on sanitation. They also talk about the benefits of sanitation programmes and the obstacles to improved sanitation as they see it. The accompanying user's manual provides ideas for discussion topics. The end of the manual also has the translated Oshiwambo script.
