Abstract

Benzidine dihydrochloride reagent alongwith citric acid and zinc dust can be used to detect nitrate, nitrite, and free chlorine in 3 minutes by comparing colours with those of a standard colour chart. These tests have been incoporated in the water testing field kit developed by the Defence Laboratory in Jodhpur, India.
