This paper explores the interactions of small wastewater treatment plants within an urban drainage system. It is noted that the characteristics of catchment areas in developing countries differ very much from the ones in industrialized countries.

| Abstract | This paper explores the interactions of small wastewater treatment plants within an urban drainage system. It is noted that the characteristics of catchment areas in developing countries differ very much from the ones in industrialized countries. Plants need to be adapted to allow for local conditions of drainage, climate and location. The paper suggests that an urban drainage strategy will indicate how to sanitize drainage systems. |
