Abstract | In this article the authors suggest there is a need to address more systematically the range of problems relating to source protection and the underlying causes. It is pointed out that there is a lack of data on problems at a local, national and regional level. This explains why few developing countries have formulated overall policies dealing with environmental protection and the management of water resources. Furthermore there is a lack of quantitative data which can be used to help in formulating practical solutions. Any available information tends to be dispersed and not available to policymakers or decision-makers or to individual project managers. |
