Abstract

This source book explores the capacity needed by local government to develop poverty-focused public-private partnership (PPP) in service delivery. It provides simple guidance based on the analysis of numerous case studies. It mentions a series of considerations and tools that will facilitate making both governance and government more effective. The book provides information on the constituent parts of a service PPP concerned with the poor. It considers what issues partnerships should address and gives information on the implications of current organisation structures and contractual types. The book concludes with a framework for action, pointing municipalities towards the key areas of action in which more sector-specific action plans can be developed. (abstract mainly taken from preface by Ravi Narayanan of WaterAid)
