Leaving no one behind in WASH Alliance programme through adopting an inclusion lens

This document is intended to create shared understanding about the concept of “Inclusion” among WASH Alliance International partners so that they become more reflective of and responsive to the needs of people they serve. It also offers ways to raise awareness about the importance of Inclusion within organisations and to begin dialogue with policy makers and plan for the inclusion of the unserved groups that can be left behind.

This tool describes what inclusion is and how an “Inclusion Lens” can identify those elements of exclusion and inclusion that should be considered in analysing a policy, programme, or practice. Besides identifying these elements, the document explains that inclusion has different levels within a community participation ladder. It defines the basic principles leading to successful inclusion and provides a "Inclusion Lens" questionnaire and an action plan checklist.
