RWSN strategy document coverAs one of the seven members of the Executive Steering Committee, IRC has jointly developed and endorsed the new six-year (2018-2023) strategy of the Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN), a global network for rural water supply professionals, with nearly 10,000 members in more than 150 countries.

The strategy sets out RWSN’s approach and priorities for the next six years which are focused on five themes:

  • Leave no-one behind
  • Sustainable groundwater development
  • Sustainable services
  • Self-supply
  • Mapping & monitoring

Together with Susanna Smets of the World Bank, IRC’s Marieke Adank is co-lead of the Sustainable Services theme. In addition IRC is one of the partners in the Mapping & Monitoring theme.

The strategy document is dedicated to the memory of our former colleague Ton Schouten (1962-2016) who was RWSN Chair, 2015-16 and our former Board member Piers Cross (1951-2017) who was RWSN Chair, 2004-2008.
