From 21-26 March 2022, participants from every horizon, including political and economic decision-makers, multilateral institutions, academia, civil society, and the private sector will gather in Dakar, Senegal for the 9th World Water Forum.

IRC is pleased to join partners at the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal. It will be the first time the World Water Forum, the largest international water-related event, will be held in sub-Saharan Africa.

As part of the Partnership for WASH Systems in Africa collaboration with UNICEF and Water For People, IRC will join sessions that focus on finance, systems strengthening, and climate adaptation. In addition, IRC will support efforts to bring civil society voices to key discussions particularly focused on the nexus between WASH and health.

IRC is looking forward to national and regional commitments from governments, regional bodies, and other partners that will strengthen national water, sanitation, and hygiene systems throughout Africa.

The Forum also provides an opportunity for IRC to contribute to cross-country learning prioritizing system strengthening at national and district levels.

Building upon previous World Water Forums, the 9th Forum will, through an innovative framework, seek to identify, promote and implement concrete responses and actions for water and sanitation in an integrated way.
