Melaku Worku holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering and is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Rural Development. With over 15 years of experience in rural development, he has gained comprehensive knowledge in water supply, sanitation and hygiene, irrigation development, and environmental protection.
Melaku has worked in both governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Lutheran World Federation, COWASH Project, and USAID Transform WASH Project. He has a strong professional background in WASH, having worked with communities at the field level and gaining advocacy skills at the highest government level.
Since July 2019, Melaku joined IRC WASH Ethiopia, where he facilitates the Market-Based Sanitation Multi-Stakeholder Platform for USAID Transform WASH. He coordinates efforts to improve market-based sanitation implementation in Ethiopia by bringing together government officials, development partners, and private sector representatives at national and sub-national levels. Currently, Melaku is responsible for coordinating advocacy efforts in the USAID Transform WASH project.
