| Abstract | The programme was set up to provide water and sanitation to 13 communities with a total population of 31,786 (2004). However, in the course of the programme 5 additional villages were added to the programme and benefited from improved water supply and sanitation. The evaluation used a participatory approach using tools like observations, focus group discussions, mapping and interviews. It transformed qualitative data into quantitative results. This approach made it possible to measure the appreciation of the communities of the interventions of the programme and their impact in nine communities. |
